I am speculating a couple of things. The interviewer contacted outside of the window mentioned in the website (Jan - mid feb). Could be a. He/She missed this candidate from her list and had to quickly fix the mistake. b. Stanford sent them new candidates due to various reasons with tighter deadlines. c. You are basically deferring yourself and the RD pool is generally more competitive because it's also consisting of Princeton/Yale/Stanford REA deferred applicants lmao.
