I found a Firmware Update ( Ver. M3B102) for the Alienware AW3423DWF (The Free-Sync version of the DW) on the Dell Downloadcenter. It will fix loud fan noise after prolong use. So yeah, the AW3423DWF will allow firmware updates but is confirmed to have a fan for cooling.
